The Bihar State Education Board (BSEB) has once again infamously hit the headlines after it announced its Class 12 board results on Wednesday, 6 June. Some students who appeared for the exam are now claiming that they scored more than the total marks in some subjects.

According to a report by The Times of India, a student named Bhim Kumar from Arwal district, claims to have procured 38 out of the total 35 marks in mathematics (theory) while 37 out of 35 in the objective-type questions.

I did not notice that I was given more marks than the total. I got to know about it through my friends. I am not shocked because such things have been happening in the state board exams for long.
Bhim Kumar to The Times Of India

Another student mentioned in the report said that while he got more marks than the total in one subject, he got zero in two other subjects. Other students also complained that they’d been marked for subjects that they hadn’t even appeared for!

It was clearly mentioned in my admit card that I would write physics, chemistry, mathematics, English and Rashtra Bhasha (non-Hindi). But I have been given marks in biology as well.
Jahnvi Singh, a student, to The Times Of India

In 2016 the BSEB made national headlines after some of their toppers could not answer basic questions on a live television interview.
