Himachal Pradesh has experienced heavy rainfall this monsoon, especially in the month of August. This season has recorded the maximum rainfall in the state in the last 50 years.
Heavy rains and flash floods have ravaged Chamba, causing inconvenience to the locals. The incessant rainfall has triggered landslides in Lahaul and Spiti districts of the state, leading to traffic blockade. The strategic Manali to Leh highway was closed for more than eight hours following a landslide at Marhi on 29 June, 30 kilometres uphill from the tourist town of Manali.
