12-Year-Old Surat Girl Drops Out of School to Become a Monk

She studied till class 7 and was a bright student but left school in the month of November to lead a simple life.

Khushi Shah, a 12-year-old girl is renouncing worldly pleasures and taking Diksha in Surat. Children her age like to play and spend time with their friends but Khushi wants to take Diksha and lead a simple life as a saint.

Her father, Vinit Shah is a government employee in Ahmedabad. She used to study in class 7 and was a bright student but left school in the month of November to lead a simple life. In class 6, Khushi scored 97% marks. She says, she likes the life of sainthood more than that of leading a life with worldly pleasures.

In the past she has travelled thousands of kilometres on foot and has very closely seen life after Diksha.

Khushi’s mother said that she wanted her daughter to be a doctor, but giving in to Khushi's wish, they gave her the permission to take Diksha. Her father too said they had to listen to their daughter and had to fulfil her wish.

A celebration was held in the city to mark Khushi taking Diksha.
