Indian tech startup Twenty Two Motors and Taiwanese two-wheeler manufacturer Kymco have announced their official partnership to sell electric vehicles in Indian under the umbrella of a new brand Twenty Two Motors Kymco.
This alliance marks the entry of Kymco, a leader in the two-wheeler segment in Taiwan, into the Indian market. Now, with this partnership, Twenty Two Motors will not only gain the technical expertise from one of the biggest players in the two-wheeler market but also borrow the technology expertise that Kymco brings to the table.
In addition to this, the Gurgaon-based startup has upgraded its recently launched electric scooter called Flow, which we first came across at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The upgraded version of Flow will hit the roads starting January next year with an expected price tag of Rs 74,740 (ex-showroom).
Under the new entity, Twenty Two Kymco announced that it will be launching more two-wheelers in the Indian market. The new Ionex technology will be the backbone behind the fast-charging feature of the battery on this two-wheeler.
Kymco will ensure that the Flow electric scooter comes bundled with a removable battery, which can be replaced whenever the users runs out of battery juice.
The scooter will support two batteries at a time and will offer a range of 200 kilometers. The company is looking at offering the charging facility to the customers at Rs 20 to Rs 30 for a full charge although the numbers could change in the future.
The initial lot of the batteries will be imported and then later manufactured in India. The company is looking to start with Delhi for setting up charging stations and then later will move to Bengaluru followed by other regions.
