A new electric vehicle startup, Twenty Two Motors, has launched its first product – the Flow electric scooter – at a price of Rs 74,740, ex-showroom Delhi. The Flow is powered by a 2.1 kW Bosch motor and a 32 Ah lithium-ion battery pack.
The company has added a fair amount of technology in the Flow scooter; it comes with features like cruise control, LED headlamps and daytime running lamps, LED indicators, and multiple riding modes.
The battery pack is removable, and can be fully charged in about 5 hours with a regular charger or 1 hour with a fast charger. It can travel about 80 km on a full charge, with a top speed of around 65 kmph. It features disc brakes on the front and rear.
What makes the Flow scooter unique is the integration of technology. It comes with a mobile app that not just shows you the remaining charge, but also monitors your riding style and distance and can suggest charging routines or warn you if something is going wrong.
It also features a 'reverse' gear, which helps slowly move the scooter out of parking lots. Not that it's really needed, as the scooter weighs just 85 kg. It has a fibre glass body and a multifunction LCD screen. The scooter also features an underseat storage for a large helmet, or space for an additional battery pack, which can effectively double the range to 160 km. It also has a USB socket to charge your phone.
If you have a puncture, it also features a ‘drag’ function, where you can slowly walk the scooter alongside to the puncture repair shop.
We got an exclusive preview of the Flow prototype a few days before the Auto Expo. The final product has a few minor design changes.
