Celebrities from across the film and TV industry are turning out to be huge football fans! The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2018 has proven to be one of the most exciting in recent memory, with the favourites having a bumpy ride to progressing past the group stage.

After a tough first two games, Argentina faced Nigeria on 26 June needing a win to qualify for the knockouts, while hoping Iceland didn’t beat Croatia by a few goals in the other Group D match. The topsy-turvy game had the celebs hooked from start to exhilarating finish!

An avid football fan, Shah Rukh Khan has been following the games closely. He recently tweeted “My favourite teams are testing my blood pressure. Double phew Germany!!!” about Germany’s win against Sweden on 23 June. King Khan was back in action last night, relieved after the result.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar’s tweeted after the game ended, but it might as well have been a plea to the football gods for the Messi magic to continue.

Superstar Ranveer Singh was virtually live-tweeting the game, commenting on all the goals scored and basically celebrating good football even as he rooted for Argentina to win.

Ranveer’s night ended with jubilation, as did actress Dia Mirza’s:

Manveer Gurjar of Bigg Boss fame also chimed in, and the timestamp tells us the big man was hooked to his TV screen right till the end.

In fact, it was TV actor Himansh Kohli who summed up the night perfectly with a well-timed GIF:

The 86th minute goal by Marcos Rojo is what caused that huge grin, yet broke millions of Nigerian hearts. Argentina has now gone through to the Round of 16 and will face France on 30 June.
