C Praveen Kumar Takes Oath as Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh HC

Kumar was administered oath in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Governor ESL Narasimhan.

C Praveen Kumar took oath as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday, 1 January, news agency ANI reported.

Kumar was administered oath in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Governor ESL Narasimhan.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court at Vijayawada came into existence on the first day of 2019.

The separate High Court for Telangana also came into existence on Tuesday, following the division of the High Court at Hyderabad.

TB Radhakrishnan Takes Charge as 1st Chief Justice of Telangana HC

Thottathil B Radhakrishnan on Tuesday, 1 January, took over as the first Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, news agency PTI reported.

Radhakrishnan was administered the oath of office by Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana E S L Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.

According to PTI, a large number of employees of the common high court who were allocated to the Andhra Pradesh High Court left for Vijayawada from Hyderabad on Monday.

On 26 December, President Ram Nath Kovind had issued orders for the creation of a separate high court for Andhra Pradesh.

The Hyderabad High Court had common jurisdiction over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh since the formation of Telangana in 2014.
