RJ Balaji’s Ice House To White House show that took place on Sunday, seems to have left the audience gasping for breath from all the laughing. The satirical show gave awards to politicians and celebrities in a culmination of all the political events that have taken place in 2017.

The highlight of the show was actor Sivakarthikeyan doing a wildly popular imitation of superstar Rajinikanth. The mimicry, which has gone viral on social media, was a near-perfect imitation of Rajinikanth’s typical manner of speaking and use of words. Sivakarthikeyan, speaking as Rajini, said that Balaji’s show was ‘fantastic’ and ‘one of a kind’, ending with the hilarious gibberish of ‘yaccha-chach gachacha yacha-chach gachacha-aah!’

The award show, which was mostly a political satire, took digs at Kollywood goings-on as well. Forty well-known faces from the fields of cinema and politics were nominated for awards in different categories. Speaking to TNM before the event, Balaji had listed some of the nominees of the year, "Some of our prominent nominees include BJP Tamil Nadu President Tamilisai Soundararajan, BJP leader H Raja, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and even American President Donald Trump.”

Starting with the Chennai floods in December 2015, RJ Balaji has increasingly come into the limelight for being vocal about politics and social justice in Tamil Nadu. In 2017, he was a vocal opponent of the Jallikattu ban. He even triggered the collective social conscience of the state with his views on Anitha's suicide over the NEET exam. More recently, Balaji, a die-hard Rajini fan himself, said that it was too late for his idol to enter politics – a view for which he was widely attacked by Rajinikanth's fans.
