Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kabali‘s shoot starts today and the team has released its first look posters. Here’s Rajinikanth’s brand new avatar in and as Kabali.

The film directed by Pa Ranjith, who also directed Madras, will feature Rajinikanth playing the roles of a Chennai-based don. Radhika Apte will be the female lead. Actors Dhansika, Prakash Raaj and Kalaiarasan play prominent roles. Santhosh Narayaranan, who gave the music for Jigarthanda, will score the music for Kabali too.

Kabali comes after Lingaa, which performed poorly at the box office. So instead of toeing the line of the time-tested formulaic films, Rajinikanth seems to have opted for a change.

The posters feature him sporting salt and pepper hair and a beard, are perhaps indications of him wanting to do characters that suit his age. He has also chosen a relatively new director Pa Ranjith, who debuted with Attakathi in 2012 and directed the critically acclaimed political drama - Madras in 2014.
