1. Four-Month-Old Boy Dies After Drunk Father Slams Him On Ground

A four-month-old boy died after his drunk father slammed him on the ground following an argument with his wife at a village in the Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district, the police said on Wednesday, 26 June. The incident took place on Monday, they added.

The accused, identified as Uday Kushwaha (28), was arrested under murder charges, senior police official Vivek Lal said.

The couple, residents of Panna district, had come to Sadak Hardua village, about 52 kms from Damoh district headquarters, to attend a marriage function, he said.

2. Man Arrested for Delhi’s Barapullah Shooting

Delhi Police have arrested a man days after he and an accomplice allegedly fired at an office cab ferrying two ABP journalists on the Barapullah flyover. Incidentally, the accused was arrested by Shahdara Police on 18 June in connection with a robbery and abduction case that took place last year.

Police said the accused, Tayyab, is a resident of Shahdara. He was arrested after the Special Task Force realised that another case— wherein a cab driver was shot and a passenger robbed on 3 June — was carried out with a similar modus operandi as the Barapullah incident.

3. Probe After TikTok Video Shows Man’s Stunt on ‘Cop Car’

After a TikTok video showing a man performing stunts atop what appears to be a police vehicle went viral, Delhi Police has issued a showcause notice to a private contractor and his friend for allegedly misusing the vehicle.

The video, which police say was uploaded a while ago, shows a shirtless man wearing a cap driving a white Maruti Ertiga with the Delhi Police logo on the front and a beacon light on top. With a song playing in the background, he steps out of the slow moving car, climbs atop the vehicle and does push-ups, before returning to the driver seat. Police identified the driver as Dushyant. The song in the background, Bholenath, has especially irked officers, it is learnt.

4. Noida Police to Issue ‘Red Cards’ to Men Found Harassing Women

In an effort to strengthen its ‘anti-Romeo squads’, Noida Police will issue red cards as warnings to men who bother women in public by following them or passing comments. In a bid to protect women from teasing and street harassment, police will also seek feedback from residents to identify areas with a greater probability of the offence.

“The red card is essentially a non-coercive measure which will serve as a warning to those who harass women verbally or non-verbally. The person’s details, including his address and contact number, will be noted in a register for future record. If the person is found committing an offence of this nature again, strict action will be taken. The card is aimed at serving as a deterrent to people who make women feel unsafe,” said Vineet Jaiswal, SP (Rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

5. Woman, Her Live-In Partner Held for Vasant Vihar Triple Murder

Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved a triple murder in Vasant Vihar with the arrest of a 42-year-old woman and her 39-year-old live-in partner for the murder of an elderly couple and their young nursing attendant. The arrested woman’s mother had been a friend of the 75-year-old woman for nearly 50 years, the police said.

The arrested couple — Preeti Sehrawat and Manoj Bhatt — murdered Vishnu Mathur (79) and his wife Shashi Mathur (75) because they suffered losses in business ventures and urgently needed money.

They used to run a restaurant and a paying guest accommodation, the police said. Bhatt had once been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, they said.

6. CBI Claims Kalaskar Confessed to Killing Dabholkar

The Central bureau of information (CBI) on Tuesday, while opposing the bail application of Sanatan Sanstha member and advocate, Sanjiv Punalekar, claimed another accused in the case, Sharad Kalaskar, confessed to killing Narendra Dabholkar during a forensic psychological analysis test.

The probe agency also told the court that Kalaskar, during forensic psychological analysis accepted meeting Punalekar in June 2018 and destroying weapons’ on Punalekar’s advice.

7. Truck Crushes 12-Yr-Old to Death in Ghata Village

A 12-year-old girl died after she allegedly came under a truck at a crossing near Ghata village in Sector 56 on Wednesday afternoon. Police said the girl was crushed underneath one of the truck tyres.

According to the police, she was on her way to the vegetable market around 3pm and crossing the road when the incident took place.

Sandeep, assistant sub-inspector (ASI), Sector 56 police station, said the girl died on the spot. “Her body was crushed beneath a truck tyre. The truck driver escaped from the spot and is yet to be identified. We are scanning CCTV cameras in the area to identify the driver,” said ASI.

8. Man Gives Triple Talaq to Wife; Haryana Police Gets Women’s Panel Notice

The National Commission for Women issued a notice to Haryana police today and sought an action taken report from them in a case where a woman was physically assaulted and abandoned by her husband after pronouncing ''talaq'' thrice.

In the notice to Haryana DGP Manoj Yadava, NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma said she is deeply "concerned and shocked" by the incident. She sought an action taken report in the matter.

The NCW also took suo motu cognizance of another media report, which said a young couple in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district was tortured and their heads forcefully shaved off.

9. Girl Attempts to Slit Her Wrist In Kolkata School, Saved

Five days after the death of a class 10 student, another student in a prominent south Kolkata school attempted suicide by slitting her wrist but was saved by the prompt action of school authorities, police said on Wednesday.

"We heard about the incident of a school student injuring herself. But there has been no formal complaint as the matter was solved by the school authorities," a senior Kolkata Police officer said.

He said officers of the Gariahat police station spoke to the school authorities in Ballygunge, whose prompt action save the student's life.
