Hundreds of slogan-shouting people took to the streets and blocked roads demanding swift action against alleged murderers of a 12-year-old student, who was found dead at a private hostel in Bihar’s Sitamarhi on 25 September evening.
The boy’s father alleged that his son died after his teachers and principal “brutally thrashed” him.
“He had been mercilessly beaten up by them in the past too,’’ he said. He said he met the hostel in-charge, who assured that such acts would not be repeated, the last time his son was beaten up.

The parents of a three-year-old child who allegedly suffered sexual abuse in school say they are being pressured not to press for a police case against the school and its management.
The alleged incident took place at a private, primary school in Hyderabad three months ago, just a week after the child had joined school. The three-year-old told her grandmother about a bearded man at school who had touched and hurt her private parts.
A private hospital, where the girl was then taken to for examination, said she was possibly sexually assaulted.
An audio clip of the child being spoken to by an investigation officer, shared with NDTV, is heart-wrenching as the child says a "beard uncle" had touched her private parts for a "long time".

A 24-year-old man was killed and a Zomato delivery boy was injured after their motorcycles collided near Nirvana Greens housing society in Kharar.
The deceased was identified as Aashiq Mir Hussain, 24, an MBA student hailing from Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir. He lived in a rented accommodation with his friends at Nirvana Greens, and was pursuing MBA first-semester from Indo Global Colleges.
The delivery boy, Sandeep, 25, is a resident of Kurali.
Police said Hussain had left his flat to buy milk around midnight. As soon as he drove out of the society’s gate, Sandeep’s motorcycle, coming from the opposite side, hit his vehicle head-on.

A 21-year-old lift technician was arrested late Tuesday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl on the terrace of a condominium in DLF Phase 2, Gurugram.
The girl suffered injuries on her private parts and was discharged after treatment on Wednesday.
The minor, a class 9 student of a private school, was playing in an open space in the society when the suspect allegedly approached her and offered her a gift.
Karan Goel, assistant commissioner of police (DLF), said that the girl’s mother had gone to Delhi for some personal work and had left her daughter alone at home, as her father was also out for work.

A 23-year-old woman journalist left her office in South East Delhi’s Okhla Phase-II to head home. She was walking to her home in Govindpuri, holding her phone in hand. Right then, two men on a bike drove past and snatched the phone before speeding away. No arrests have been made yet.
Police, instead of filing an FIR of snatching, lodged an e-FIR of theft. However, snatching was added to the FIR after a video of the incident went viral on Thursday, 26 September. “We will conduct an inquiry to ascertain why an e-FIR was filed initially. Appropriate action will be taken,” said JCP (Southern Range) Devesh Srivastava.
“After recording the woman’s statement, we added IPC section 356 (assault or criminal force in an attempt to commit theft) to the FIR,” said Additional DCP (South East) Kumar Gyanesh.

A day after a 17-year-old girl was stabbed to death in a commercial complex in Ahmedabad, the Crime Branch arrested a 22-year-old man from Nadiad city in Kheda district.
The accused, Naresh Sodha (Thakor), is a native of Nadiad. The girl recently joined a law firm after finishing her Class 12 exams. Though at present the accused was unemployed, he had worked as a driver in the past, police said.
Police said they nabbed Sodha after tracking his phone.
“We also received CCTV footage of the accused exiting the commercial complex, and using technical surveillance we nabbed him. He has been booked for murder (IPC 302),” said Gohil.

A constable of Pakdi police station in Ballia district was arrested on Wednesday, 25 September, on charges of abetment to suicide of a former woman colleague who had accused him of mental and physical harassment.
In a suicide note, the 23-year-old woman, also a constable, had alleged mental and physical harassment by accused Prashant Singh, besides another woman colleague. Co-accused Archana Maurya is reportedly on the run.
The victim, who was posted at the office of Ballia Special Prosecution Officer (SPO), had allegedly hanged herself in her barrack on Reserve Police Lines campus on Monday.

A 43-year-old man of Odisha's Ganjam district was arrested for allegedly strangling his teen-aged daughter to death in a case of suspected dishonour killing, the police said on Thursday, 26 September.
The man was against her relationship with someone who he thought belonged to a different caste.
The 17-year-old girl's body was found on September 19 near Gunduribadi village under Sorada police station limits.
After it was identified, her father lodged a complaint that she was killed by unidentified men.
However, he confessed during questioning that he himself strangled her to death as she was out of home for some days. He was arrested on Tuesday, Inspector-in-charge of Sorada police station, Pravat Sahoo, said.

A man has been arrested by the Ludhiana Police for murdering his relative. The accused suspected that the victim was having an affair with his wife, police said. The incident took place on 23 September.
"The accused, Rajbar has been arrested. He murdered his relative on the suspicion of having an affair with his wife. The deceased has been identified as Bindu Prasad," said Police Commissioner Rakesh Aggarwal.
Bindu Prasad used to work in a rubber factory. The case was registered by his son Durgesh Rai.
