In a video that has gone viral on social media, a 21-year-old college student is seen beating a man who had allegedly harassed her in Delhi’s Karol Bagh, reported Hindustan Times.
According to a PTI report, the woman confronted two men for passing lewd remarks. She was going to buy a mobile phone on a rickshaw when the duo targeted her. She, however, retaliated and challenged them. She caught one of them while the other managed to flee.
“Passersby helped me in nabbing the man. I had called up the police control room but before the cops reached the spot, a traffic official spotted me on the road and offered help. The traffic policeman caught hold of the man, and with the help of a passerby, took us to the police station, ” she added.
The two accused, Manish Kumar and Abhishek, have been arrested by the police and an FIR has been lodged against them at the Karol Bagh police station, reported HT. A case of insulting the modesty of a woman was also registered.
According to HT, the police laid a trap to arrest Abhishek by making Manish call him and tell him that the woman had withdrawn her complaint and was ready for a compromise. As soon Abhishek reached the police station, he was arrested.
“I want to thank the police and locals for helping me nab the two men. This is not the first time that I have been harassed on the road but I decided to hit back this time because despite being ignored, they persisted and followed me,” she told HT.
The two men are residents of Charkhi Dadri in Haryana, around 100 kilometres from Delhi. They are college students and had come to Karol Bagh to get their laptop fixed.
