Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer Kabir Singh, a Hindi adaptation of the Tamil film Arjun Reddy, will hit the theatres tomorrow and is predicted to open with decent numbers.
Atul Mohan, Movie Business Analyst says that “the buzz for the film is good among youngsters.” “We are looking at Rs 10-12 plus opening day as of today,” says Atul. However, he added that post the film’s release the buzz grew in the evening and Kabir Singh is now likely to earn Rs 16-17 crores.
Kabir Singh could thus get Shahid his highest solo opening at the box office. His biggest solo opener so far has been Shandaar, which made around Rs 11.5 crore on day one.
But the film will face some challenges. Apart from its length (three hours), the film will also have a limited audience as it has been given an A certificate.
The original, Arjun Reddy, made at a cost of Rs 4 crore went on to become a big hit, crossing Rs 50 crore at the box office.
In Kabir Singh, Shahid plays a successful young medical surgeon who sets out on a path of self-destruction when the woman he loves is forced to marry another man.
