Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh seems to be unstoppable at the box office. The film has crossed Rs 250 crore in its 4th week in cinemas. Kabir Singh released in theatres on 21 June. It is a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy and also stars Kiara Advani.
Trade analyst shared the news on Saturday 13 July, tweeting, “#KabirSingh stays strong, despite #Super30 making a dent in biz [multiplexes specifically]... [Week 4] Fri 2.54 cr. Total: ₹ 252.14 cr. India biz.”
Earlier, Kabir Singh toppled Vicky Kaushal’s Uri - The Surgical Strike as the highest earning Hindi film of 2019 so far.
Kabir Singh managed to rake in Rs. 70.83 crores in the first weekend of its release. It entered the Rs 100 crore club on its fifth, becoming Shahid’s first solo release to do so. It is the second fastest film to reach the Rs 100 crore mark in 2019, after Salman Khan starrer Bharat which did so in four days.
Directed by Sandeep Vanga, Kabir Singh is a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy and hit theatres on 21 June. It is the story of a medical student who falls in love with a fellow student. When the latter leaves him, the protagonist spirals into self-destructive behaviour.
Earlier Taran said that the film was “rewriting the rules of the game” as it performed remarkably on a weekday. It earned Rs 17.5 crore on the Monday after its release.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Kabir Singh has surpassed the opening weekend business of Total Dhamaal, even though Kabir Singh released in fewer screens than Total Dhamaal. Not only that, the Arjun Reddy remake has emerged as the biggest non-holiday opener of 2019.
Kabir Singh managed to rake in Rs. 70.83 crores in the first weekend of its release. A surprising feat indeed. Its business has only increased with every passing day.
Surpassing the business of Ranveer Kapoor starrer Padmaavat, which earned Rs 19 crores on day 1, Kabir Singh has roped in Rs 20.21 crore on Day 1.
Kabir Singh has also crossed the opening day figures of other 2019 films that have released on regular, non-holiday Fridays.
