Period dramas are the flavour of the season. After creating the majestic sets of Jodhaa Akbar, art director Nitin Desai and Ashutosh Gowariker are teaming up again for the re-imagination and construction of the regal palace of Peshwas, Shaniwar Wada at ND Studios.

Gowariker performed ‘bhoomi pujan’ on the occasion of Akshay Tritaya with his wife Sunita and Nitin Desai at the site.

“I am excited to work with Ashutosh Gowariker again after Jodhaa Akbar. The battle of Panipat is one of the most important chapters of our history and I am glad to be a part of this project. Shaniwar Wada was a stunning place and I am excited to recreate this magnificent structure for the film.”

Panipat will tell the story of what led to the third Battle of Panipat. Actors Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon are part of the ambitious project.

It will be produced by Sunita Gowariker under their home banner AGPPL in association with Vision World. The film is slated to release on December 6, 2019.
