Nordstrom Inc is winding down its relationship with the Ivanka Trump brand, Bloomberg reported, citing a person with knowledge of the matter.
The department store operator will be reducing the amount of Ivanka Trump merchandise it stocks, though some inventory could remain for now, the report said, citing the person.
Nordstrom decided not to buy the Ivanka Trump brand for this season based on the brand's performance, a spokesperson for the company said.
The move comes amid threats of boycott and concerns about the first daughter’s conflict of interest.
Nordstrom has come under fire from an effort called the #GrabYourWallet campaign to encourage shoppers to boycott products with ties to President Trump, his family and his donors.
Ivanka’s business also has drawn criticism for mixing brand promotion and politics. Her company sent a “style alert” to journalists in November promoting a gold bracelet that she wore during an interview, the report said.
In November, Nordstrom defended its decision to sell Ivanka Trump’s products. “We hope that offering a vendor’s products isn’t misunderstood as us taking a political position,” the company wrote on Twitter. “We’re not.”
Nordstrom predominantly carries Ivanka Trump’s line of shoes. As of Thursday afternoon, only four items remained on the website: three pairs of shoes and one dress, all marked down 40 percent, reports The New York Times.
