Anzhelika Tahir emerged as the 13th winner of Miss Pakistan World 2015 held in Toronto, Canada.

In a candid interview with Samir Nisar, the half-Pakistani, half-Ukrainian beauty opened up about how she got into modelling, her first win and her dreams for Pakistan. She grew up in Kiev, Russia and is the first girl of mixed race to be representing Pakistan on such a platform.

When she was asked to say a few words about herself, she said, “I never thought that I could be a beauty queen title holder.” As a child, she always felt like an outsider in Kiev, who didn’t fit in, as the other children were white-skinned.

During my elementary school days, I didn’t have friends. Because of my skin colour, no one wanted to sit with me at the desk.

So How Did Miss Pakistan World Happen?

Anzhelika went on to pursue a career in modelling after her school and participated in many beauty pageants.

I entered the Miss Pakistan World contest by chance. I always thought that it’s impossible for a common person like me to win.

The Pakistani people’s acceptance of her as a representative of their country despite her mixed race background came as a welcome surprise. Ans this gorgeous lady is very fond of her country and has many plans for it.

My goal for this year is to represent my country Pakistan in international contests and to show the Pakistani beauty and the positive image of my country and my Pakistani heritage.

“I’m very proud to represent my wonderful country in international pageants and to share a positive image of our land. This is an amazing way to change people’s perception and their mind about Pakistan and show Pakistan in the real form,” she added

But the journey is not all pomp and show in Pakistan.

Pakistani pageant industry is not as popular as in different countries and one must think that it is easy to become a new Miss Pakistan World, but that’s not true.
