The mystery around ‘Tabby’s Star’ has been puzzling for scientists for a while now. The star KIC 8462852, they say, has been bizarre for its occasional dips in brightness and the fact that the deviations in light from it are asymmetrical.
And now, fresh observations by NASA's planet-hunting Kepler space telescope show that the star has also dimmed overall during the last few years. According to a few theories, behaviour of the star is premised upon an “alien megastructure”, a massive structure built around a star to harness its energy.
