Around this time last year, cricketers such as Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya had taken social media by storm by posting videos where they traded their bearded look for a cleaner one. So popular was the trend that our kabaddi players too joined in and showed off their well-groomed avatars. The end result: the humble beard had got a stylish makeover and how.

Well, if that was last year, this year the excitement seems to have reached a new level altogether. IPL season is on and the boys are back to breaking their beards with new found zeal. And going by their social media posts, they seem to be having a lot more fun this time that they had last year. From giving quirky captions to having a friendly banter in the comments section, they’re doing it all to take Break The Beard to the next level.

Watch how Ravindra Jadeja unveiled his #newlevel look that he dedicated to the fans of his IPL team.

The Chennai Super Kings star gets rid of his facial fuzz and chooses to sport a slick French beard. Must we add, this classic look suits him to the tee.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Shikhar Dhawan too surprised his admirers by revealing his swag-wala look in an Instagram post. His hilarious Punjabi caption is only proof of how much fun he’s having with Break The Beard 2.0.

Like Jadeja, he goes the French way as well but makes it a point to keep his look less dense. His beard has a grainy appearance that’s in keeping with his hairstyle. His new look only adds to his swag.

There’s plenty of friendly banter going on in the comments section. Harbhajan Singh has very curiously commented ‘Sudhir’ on Shikhar’s video (Is he referring to the yesteryear Bollywood actor?), leaving him in splits. Hardik Pandya too has responded with a laugh-till-you-cry emoji. These players maybe divided by teams, but very evidently, they’re united by Break The Beard.

Banter is not the only thing on display this time. There’s lots of brotherly love too, thanks to Hardik and Krunal Pandya, both of who play for Mumbai Indians. While Hardik is no certain stranger to this, for Krunal it’s his first, and he totally nails it with a sleek French beard.

In response to bade bhaiya’s post, Hardik too revealed his “style game” and called it the “finishing move.”

In fact, Hardik takes it to a #newlevel and even asks his brother to watch and learn from him. Boy oh boy, this really got interesting!

Apart from Krunal, this year has some other new entrants too. Young gun Rishabh Pant of Delhi Daredevils joins the fun and shows you what summer style is all about.

He ditches the French beard, but ups the style game with a rather refreshing look. Full marks to him for sporting something that’s high on style, low on maintenance and has the right amount of cool quotient. And this youngster even tags his seniors Ravindra Jadeja and Shikhar Dhawan.

Kane Williamson makes his Break The Beard debut this time and thanks his Sunrisers team mate Shikhar Dhawan for teaching him Punjabi swag. This has clearly gone crossover now.

His facial fuzz has given way to a neatly styled beard. Not only are we loving it, but so are Eoin Morgan and Carlos Brathwaite. Don’t believe us? Go check out their comments under Kane’s video.

Another Sunrisers player who flaunts his mini makeover is Manish Pandey.

His style is similar to that of Rishabh Pant and is making him look sharper and way more dapper. Quite a good start, we say.

Now if cricketers are having so much fun, why should popular sports anchor Jatin Sapru stay behind? He too makes a splash this time.

Jatin looks dapper with his neatly styled moustache that’s complemented by a well-groomed goatee. Just the look you need to beat the heat. While Pandya brothers Hardik and Krunal give a thumbs up to Jatin’s new look, Irfan Pathan humours with him a ‘Bhai bhai kya kar diyaaaaaaaaaa’.

So much fun, so much style and so many innovative looks. This year’s Break The Beard is undoubtedly notches higher than what it was last year. Looks like there is no stopping this revolution that started last year. In the meanwhile, we can’t wait to see which other bearded cricketers reveal their #newlevel looks.
