Anand L Rai’s Zero, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, hit theatres on 21 December and we decided to watch the first show at Mumbai’s Gaiety Galaxy, one of the few multiplexes in Mumbai that has retained the vibe of single screens back in the day.
Several wondered whether the larger-than-life film would revive Shah Rukh’s career after a long dry spell at the box office, but the movie has received mixed reviews and has been criticised for going off track in the second half. Some diehard SRK fans, however, refuse to accept any critique and call it a mass entertainer, claiming its too soon to tell whether it will be a hit or not.
The film features several cameos by stars like Salman Khan and the late Sridevi. The audience in the theatre could not stop dancing and whistling when the movie commenced after the interval as Salman and Shah Rukh were seen dancing to ‘Issaqbaazi’.
I would not go into the details of the film but the movie starts in Meerut and ends in mars and only SRK can convince you that this is possible. I guess that’s why he is the King of Bollywood. As one fan put it:
I am a Salman fan and I am only here to watch Shah Rukh and Salman on screen together. I don’t care if the movie is good or bad.Riyaz Sheikh
