Barcelona hosted a farewell ceremony for legendary midfielder Xavi Hernandez at Camp Nou on Wednesday after the 35-year-old announced his decision to depart from the club at the end of this season.
At the emotional ceremony attended by most of his Barcelona team-mates, Xavi thanked all the fans and supporters of the club who he said had stood by him though the 17 years he spent at the club.
Xavi’s final assignment in the Barcelona stripes will be this Saturday when he steps on the field for the Champions League final against Juventus. And despite having won a club-record 24 titles, the Barca legend said he wished to leave on a winning note.
