The PM Narendra Modi biopic by Omung Kumar starring Vivek Oberoi has been under controversy since day one. Many have called the film ‘propaganda’, while others call it freedom of expression. That, with the timing of its release put the film under the microscope. Vivek Oberoi spoke to us about the film.

Talking about whether segments of the film have been dramatised to suit a narrative, Vivek said:

“There are different perspectives and for me I took the larger-than-life perspective because of the story, not because of who he is but who he was. We followed that arc.”

Speaking about whether the film will persuade people and influence people into voting for PM Modi, Vivek said:

“You have the democratic right to influence people. My intention is not to influence people. My intention is to find the best day of release for my film.”

Talking about the abusive nature of the internet , Vivek said:

“The psuedo-liberals, the people who believe that I am creating the death of democracy by making this film also attack me and call me and my family all kinds of names; threaten to do things to me, my wife, and my children. These things happen. Is it right? No.”

While the film was all set to release on the 11th of this month, the film has been banned by the Election Commission for level playing field. The ECI said that it has also received complaints about 'NTR Laxmi' and 'Udyama Simham'.
