A footpath smells offensive? We shrug our shoulders, hold our noses and hurry along. We live in a country where it is entirely acceptable for men to unzip and relieve themselves at a street corner or pavement. In fact, the only way to keep our pavements and boundary walls pee-free is with strategically placed tiles. Ganesh, Shiva, and Durga adorn our walls, protecting them from the splatter.
What would happen, hypothetically, if a woman braved the footpaths for a little bladder-relieving of her own? Nisheeth TV conducted a social experiment and we’re a little dismayed to find that the results are unsurprising.
We must keep in mind that this video does not simply address the issue of misogyny. It reminds us that we must push for the construction of public toilets for women; women simply cannot urinate or defecate in the open without fearing for their safety.
