The Uttar Pradesh government ordered a CBI probe into IAS officer Anurag Tiwari’s death after the UP police filed an FIR in the murder case.
Tiwari’s family members had met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and demanded a CBI probe.
An FIR has been registered in Hazratganj police station against unidentified persons in IAS officer Anurag Tiwari’s case under IPC section 302 (murder). The complaint was lodged by his brother Mayanak.Avanish Kumar Mishra, Circle Officer, Hazratganj
Tiwari’s family alleged that he was killed by corrupt officers. His brother, Mayank Tiwari, told The Quint:
At the end of March, Anurag told me that his life is under threat because he had unearthed a scam in his department.
Tiwari, 36, was found dead on 17 May, his birthday, under mysterious circumstances near a guest house where he was staying, in the high-security Hazratganj area in Uttar Pradesh. He was posted as commissioner in the department of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs in Bengaluru.
The Quint has accessed some WhatsApp messages that Anurag sent to his brothers and friends. In a message to his elder brother, Alok, on 25 March, Anurag appears to hint at some sort of trouble in Bengaluru.
