The FIFA Under-17 World Cup gets underway in New Delhi this Friday with an Indian team featuring in a World Cup for the first time. This time too, India has only managed to qualify by virtue of being the host nation.
However, to ensure that the team put up a solid show, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has been putting the young squad through intense training with regular international tours.
While this will ensure India get the correct conditioning, the hectic schedule also means India has lost a player to an injury. Forward Aman Chetri, touted as the next Bhaichung Bhutia, has been ruled out of the tournament due to a knee strain.
Novy Kapadia picks the other favourites to perform for the team.
