What happens when a middle class happy-go-lucky housewife stumbles into a job as a night RJ, talking to lonely listeners and odd balls about love and intimacy? Meet the simple, happy Sulochana aka Sulu who, because of her new gig, has mastered the art of saying things slowly and huskily. So, what better thing to make her do than act out Bollywood's classic dialogues (some dirty, some downright ridiculous) over the years complete with hair twirling and flirtatious side glances. It's hard not to blush (or simply laugh out) as Vidya Balan delivers another outstanding performance at The Quint’s office as her latest character, Sulu, in Tumhari Sulu, a comedy-drama directed by adman-turned-director Suresh Triveni.

Vidya Balan's natural exuberance and killer expressions meet Sulu's effortlessness and bubbly personality to create a newer, more realistic version of the sari-waali-bhabhi trope, often etched out in Bollywood. The movie is a family drama with a middle class husband struggling with his desk job and a child who's off to his own adventures in school, but the central character remains Sulu, who balances out having ambition and reality perfectly. Balan delivers a career-best performance in the movie; she and Sulu become one as soon as the cameras start rolling and then, the magic begins. Watch for yourself.
