Once upon a time, there was radio.

Before the world-wide web, hundreds of TV channels, and Facebook, people of all ages listened to radio every single day. Have things changed now? Nah!

Radio has become a necessity – from being the alarm clock which wakes you up in the morning, to the lullaby which puts you to sleep at night.

13 February is celebrated across the globe as International Radio Day. So here’s a sneak peak into the lives of some top radio jockeys, who we’re sure you’ve heard a lot, but today will get to watch.

RJ Naved aka Mirchi Murga

Delhiites get to experience rather hilarious evenings, thanks toRadio Mirchi’s RJ Naved, who hosts ‘Mirchi Murga’. Naved is not only known for his tongue-in-cheek humour, but also for expressing his opinion fearlessly on social issues.

His show won the Best Radio Sparkler (Hindi) at Excellence in Radio Awards. lovingly referred to as ‘Dilli ka Don’, Naved has been a RJ for over a decade now.

RJ Stutee

We bet you’ve heard this is on radio – “Jis film mein Stutee phoot phoot ker roti hai woh film super duper hit hoti hai”.

Her tryst with the microphone began while she was still a student pursuing her Master’s in Literature from DU. Dickens and Dostoevsky gave way to retro classics and Bollywood hits. Winner of the India Radio Forum Best RJ Award, she was with Radio Mirchi 98.3FM for a while.

Currently a film critic with The Quint, Stutee has plans to return to her first love radio very soon!

RJ Rohit aka Dharna Kumar

Rarely do RJs get a prime time slot at a young age. But Radio Mirchi’s RJ Rohit has kept his age under wraps.

His show ‘Recharge Rohit’ is a super-hit among audiences of all ages. But what tops it all is his avatar ‘Dharna Kumar’, a spoof on our dearest CM Arvind Kejriwal.

RJ Shagufta

For some, evenings can be such a drag after a long tiring day. For others, it’s just the beginning of things. With the Evening Show, Shagufta keeps it crazy and comfortable with a side of cheesy on Bengaluru’s Indigo 919 FM.

So when in doubt, join some ridiculous, but relatable conversations, mellowed down with must-have music.
