Boy From Mumbai’s Slum Tiptoes His Way to New York Ballet School

Amiruddin Shah’s instructor knew he had found a diamond in the rough.

15-year-old, Amiruddin Shah had the courage to dream big and go after his dreams. Coming from a humble background, and belonging to a family of non-artists, the son of a welder has managed to accomplish a great deal. Shah has managed to get accepted at the School of American Ballet Theatre in New York.

Amiruddin would often be invited to perform freestyle and a few stunts like the cartwheel and back-flips at weddings. His instuctor, Yehuda Maor noticed Shah at The Danceworx Academy and opted to train him in ballet. And in no time, he mastered the art. Watch the video to know more about his journey.
