Congress President Sonia Gandhi visited former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan’s home turf – Nanded in Maharashtra. While speaking at “Shankarrao Chavan Smriti Samaroh”, Sonia took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘negligence’ towards farmers and pointed out Modi’s failure to visit drought-hit Maharashtra.

Maharashtra farmers have traditionally been a Congress voter base. Shankarrao Chavan, father of Ashok Chavan was close to Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Sonia now visited Nanded to strengthen Ashok Chava’s standing in Maharashtra.
