The last one year (or a little less) has been tough for the Karni Sena. Now, after a year of violent protests, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor finally hit theatres on 25 January. If reports are to be believed, the period drama was watched by one million people on its opening day, across the country. Brave audience, no?

From what we hear, the film only validates the honour and upholds the valour of the Rajput community, and guess what? There are no scenes between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, the main point of protest, something Bhansali has repeatedly mentioned.

But now that the film has released and it’s all done and dusted, we are left with one important question- Karni Sena, ab aap kya karenge? After being in news for burning cars, malls and stoning a school bus, threatening to chop off Deepika’s nose and Ranveer’s leg, pulling out your talwar on National television, etc. ab aap kya karenge?

Your men have been working way too hard, tirelessly for months, only to protect the Rajput pride that you think has been misdirected by the filmmaker in his magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ (now Padmaavat). You were offended for reasons only known to you and you didn’t let the controversy die, you became “famous” overnight and everybody learned about your existence. Kudos to your efforts! But, now that it’s all done - aab aap kya karenge?
