Bollywood icon Sridevi passed away on Saturday night after a cardiac arrest. Sridevi was with her husband and younger daughter Khushi in Dubai at the time of her death. The Kapoor family were in UAE to attend the wedding of Boney’s nephew, Mohit Marwah. The news of her demise was confirmed by Sridevi’s brother-in-law, Sanjay Kapoor.

Sridevi was an actor par excellence. In a male-dominated industry, she carved her own very special place. While most Bollywood heroines are often used as a mere ‘item’ to draw the audience to theatres, Sridevi was often the “hero” of her films. She didn’t need the support of a male lead to give a super-hit film, she was “commercial” enough on her own. No wonder she was one of the highest paid actors in the 90s.

She was also a thorough professional and an extremely gifted artist. Yash Chopra in an interview said, “I like working with Sridevi. She is a damn good actress. She puts something extra in her work. She didn’t know language, assistants would tell her the dialogues. But she contributes so much to each dance, emotion. All of it have something extra.”

The actor who never shied away from trying different roles on reel, was a very private person in real. We tried to dig out some little known facts about the legendary actor.

Sridevi is gone but the ‘lamhe’ she etched in our memories will live on forever.

The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
