Legendary photographer Raghu Rai has joined the award-wapsi debate saying that he respects Prime Minister Modi, but would want him to speak up and hear out the concerns of the nation.

Speaking to The Quint, he said;

If the country’s artists and writers are upset about something, it’s high time Modi, the man who made such a wonderful speech, comes up and invites these artists and writers and sits and discusses the issue with them, rather than calling it a manufactured dissent.
— Raghu Rai, Veteran Photographer

Raghu Rai completed 50 years as a photographer this year. His unique images from the power corridors down to the streets of this country offer a rare perspective of the country’s transition in the past five decades. Rai has been an eye witness and ace chronicler of India’s contemporary political and social history for half a century.
