From bubbly ‘Chandni’ to her sensuous avatar in ‘kaate nahi kat te’, Sridev was a master of her art. When you look at her breathtaking performances, it’s hard to believe that this diva was not a trained dancer.

Even today when you listen to her songs, it’s difficult to not shake a leg. Every 80s kid tried to imitate her singnature dance moves. Her expressions made an ordinary dance number extraordinary - such was her knack, impeccable and inspiring.

Sridevi’s favourite choreographer was Saroj Khan. The duo gave Bollywood many blockbuster songs. The dancing queen wasn’t just hardworking but also a thorough professional. While shooting for ‘kisi ke haath na aayegi’ from Chalbaaz, Sri had 103 degree fever but she danced in the rain to perfection and gave us one of her most mesmerising performances.

“Sridevi was a fabulous dancer. There was no dance step that was difficult for her. Of course, I have scolded her many times but she never lost her cool. She would take everything in her stride and strive to do better. The thing was that our styles were different. She was more of Madras style while I was hardcore Bollywood. Sridevi was like a daughter to me and totally unique as an artiste.”
Saroj Khan to Bombay Times

She lit up the screen every time she appeared in a frame, needless to say she looked a million bucks. As millenials would say - she gave us #dancing goals.

In this video, we tell you the story behind some of her iconic dance numbers and what the choreographers she worked with had to say about their favourite performer, Sridevi.
