Remember Bill? The one glued on your Facebook feed last year? He was the guy who plagued your walls to police online etiquette.
‘Bill does not spam people’, ‘Bill does not try too hard’, ‘Bill does not post annoying forwards’... the list was endless. In short, Bill was perfect. The Sharma Ji ka beta your mother always wanted you to turn out like.
But. Did anyone ever ask Bill what he felt like?
No. We just decided to be really insensitive in aggressively pushing Bill to be the trophy boy.
What happened to Bill post his rise to fame? What was his life like before the internet hailed him as the hero everyone needs to be like?
Well, he was just a regular guy until 2016. Until the internet sniffed him out and turned his life upside down.
While everyone was waxing about how eloquent Bill is and how his nature is so judicious, did anyone ask Bill if he actually knew his shit?
Honestly, Bill was good at some things, average at others and terrible at some things too. Bill’s problem was that he was just... HUMAN. Just like you and me. But the internet ruined everything for him. People thought he had all the solutions. Bill started getting bogged down by Herculean expectations. Performance anxiety gripped him. On visiting his therapist, he was prescribed regular doses of conformity aka ‘log kya kahenge?’
He stopped taking duck-face selfies. Even the private ones. He stopped using hashtags too. Furthermore, he stopped using extra toilet paper... all of this just to please some activist on the internet!
Bill also happened to be a closeted Honey Singh fan. Sadly, he could never come out.
All of this ate him up from within. He held it all in, turned redder by the day and finally... Bam! He exploded into a million splinters.
There’s not much left of Bill right now. We can only remember him in our prayers.
What we can do is let Bill be Bill, while we try and be our best. That’s perfectly okay too!
