Taking a day off from his Kisan Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appeared before a Guwahati Court in connection with a Criminal defamation case filed against him by a member of the Rashtriya Swayamasevak Sangh.
The Criminal Defamation was filed by Anajan Bora, after Gandhi accused the RSS of preventing him from entering the Barpeta Shrine in December 2016.
“The court let Gandhi off after he furnished a bond of Rs 50,000,” said Bijan Mahajan who appeared on behalf of the RSS.
Addressing media persons outside the court , Gandhi accused the RSS of propagating a divisive ideology. Speaking on his Kisan Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress VP said that his political opponents were trying to put a spanner in his rural outreach programme.
