1. Exclusive: AMU VC Opens Up On Reports of Insult by Smriti Irani

In the eye of the storm, after her fiery but factually faulty speech on Rohith Vemula, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani is now being accused of insulting the Vice-Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Lt Gen (Retd) Zameer Uddin Shah. Reports suggest that Irani publicly insulted the Vice-Chancellor on 9 January at a meeting held in Irani’s office with Kerela Chief Minister Ommen Chandy and the AMU VC to discuss setting up an off-campus AMU centre in Kerala.

2. Freedom 251: Averted Scam, CEO Goel ‘Publicity-Hungry’, Says ED

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), after questioning the Ringing Bells CEO Mohit Goel for hours, said that Freedom 251 could have been yet another Ponzi scam. By initiating a probe in time, the agency claims that they have succeeded in safeguarding the consumers’ money. The ED recorded hours of Goel’s testimony over the past 2 days.
