The censor board has banned the word ‘Punjab’ from the film Udta Punjab. The film, which is likely to come under the board’s knife – 89 probable cuts and 35 beeped cuss words – has sparked debate among politicians and filmmakers.

The producer of the film, Anurag Kashyap, took to Twitter, demanding that political parties like the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party keep out of the issue. People are also of the view that the censor board’s intervention is curbing freedom of expression.

However, some Akali party members like Mahesh Indarjit Singh feel that the movie shows Punjab in bad light and feel that the film ought be banned altogether.
