Battling corruption charges and anti-incumbency, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is contesting for a second term in Kerala. Known as the most accessible CM, Mr Oommen Chandy’s alleged ‘closeness’ to Saritha Nair, the owner of a fraud solar panel company has rocked his reputation. While his government is seeking votes in the name of development projects started in his term, the opposition has managed to keep corruption at the centre of the election debates and campaigning.
The Quint speaks to Mr Oommen Chandy at his constituency Puthuppally, from where he has won 11 consecutive times. Confident of his comeback in Kerala a second time, he talks about why BJP cannot make an advancement into Kerala politics. Mr Chandy speaks about his government’s agenda for the youth and also, how the Congress and CPM alliance in West Bengal is landing CPM in an uncomfortable position.
