The Quint's 2019 Lok Sabha elections reportage reaches Unnao. A leather hub between Lucknow and Kanpur, no party has been able to hold on to Unnao in two decades. The incumbent MP in Unnao is BJP's Sakshi Maharaj.

Speaking on the infrastructure in the constituency, Babulal, a farmer, said that "neither were roads constructed nor water supply provided." In fact, water supply is a major issue in Unnao where water bodies have been polluted by industrial waste.

Water supplied from the canal ends up destroying the crops, says Banwari, a farmer. According to Ram Avtar, a former gram pradhan from Kathadal, polluted water from tanneries is affecting the ground water.

Apart from water, stray cattle is also a big concern for the farmers here. People in Unnao claim that no government pays heed to their concerns. In Unnao, BJP has put its faith in Sakshi Maharaj again, while Congress has fielded Anu Tandon. The SP-BSP alliance's candidate is Arun Kumar Shukla. Watch the video for more.
