UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appears to have issued a rebuttal to BJP MLA Sangeet Som’s comment that the Taj Mahal was built by "traitors", and should find no place in Indian history.
“It does not matter who built the Taj Mahal and for what reason. It was built by the blood and sweat of Indian labourers,” Adityanath said, two days after Som made the now-controversial remark.
Adityanath is scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal and other monuments in Agra during his visit on 25 October.
It (the Taj Mahal) is very important for us, especially from the perspective of tourism. It is our priority to provide facilities and safety to tourists here.UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

The UP Chief Minister also said that the government would be organising a special event on Diwali in Ayodhya, adding that it will be a “world-class event”.
On Sunday, Sangeet Som, the legislator from Sardhana in UP, said:
Many people were disappointed that the Taj Mahal was removed from UP tourism booklet. What history are we talking about? The creator of Taj Mahal imprisoned his father. He wanted to wipe out Hindus. If these people are part of our history, then it is very sad and we will change this history.Sangeet Som
Earlier, the UP government had courted controversy by leaving the Taj Mahal out of a state tourism booklet.
