Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Naramalli Sivaprasad rarely fails to put on a show for the cameras in the premises of the Parliament. Popular for his unique way of protesting against the Centre, Sivaprasad dressed up as the German dictator Adolf Hitler on Thursday, 9 August, while protesting in Parliament during the election of the new Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, reported The Hindustan Times.
The TDP MP has been demanding special status for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Three days earlier, he had dressed up as Lord Rama for his outcry against the Centre on the same issue. He has also donned the Sathya Sai and Narad Muni avatars in the past, according to The Hindustan Times. But this is the first time that the TDP MP has chosen a foreign personality for his protest.
The TDP led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been demanding special status for the state from a long time. In March this year, his party ended the coalition with the NDA after it had accused the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not living up to the promise of granting Andhra Pradesh special category status.
Sivaprasad is an Indian actor-turned-politician from Andhra Pradesh. In the 2009 election, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Chittoor constituency. He has acted in over 20 Telugu films and directed four.
Sivaprasad had also held protests by dressing up as BR Ambedkar, a farmer, a priest, a fisherman and many other personalities. He is also one of the MLAs who has been suspended for his protests in the Parliament against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
