Activist and cameraman Abd Alkader Habak was standing close to a bus convoy outside Aleppo on 15 April, when blasts hit the buses carrying Shia residents as they waited to cross from rebel into government territory in an evacuation deal between the warring sides.
Habak was thrown to the ground by the impact. On gathering his senses, he saw a child gasping for breath.
Habak abandoned his camera and ran to pick up the child. He took the child to an ambulance.
Habak continued to help the children. Other camerapersons present at the site, however, captured his act.
After the ambulances carried away the injured, Habak was overcome with emotion and sank to the ground. The other camerapersons captured the heartbreaking sight.
The death toll from a bomb attack on the crowded bus convoy has reached at least 126. It is the deadliest such incident in Syria in almost a year, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said on Sunday.
The Observatory and the United Nations cited reports that more than 60 children were among the dead.
