The face of a lecturer in a Nagpur college was blackened allegedly by Shiv Sena workers on Wednesday. Amit Ganvir, a faculty at the city’s Dharampeth Polytechnic College had allegedly caught a female student cheating on 13 April. Attackers say the lecturer tried to take advantage of that.
The student, who studies at a differrent polytechnic College and had arrived at the centre to write her paper, accused Ganvir of misbehaving with her. When she threatened to record their conversation, the lecturer returned her answer scripts. Later, he allegedly sought sexual favours from her. The men who attacked Ganvir with black ink said they were forced to act as the college that employed Ganvir refused to act on their complaint.
Ganvir has been booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.
