Sama Shabir, daughter of separatist leader Shabir Shah, has topped the CBSE Class 12 exams in Jammu and Kashmir.
A student of Delhi Public School Athwajan, Sama secured 97.8 percent marks, an official of the school said.
She is the daughter of Jammu Kashmir democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) chief Shabir Shah who is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail. Shah was arrested in September by the Enforcement Directorate in a case of alleged terror funding to fuel unrest in the valley.
Sama owes her success to her father.
I worked very hard and faced a lot of emotional and psychological trauma last year because of my dad’s arrest. He was in Tihar in disturbing conditions. Pushing myself to study and focus was initially very difficult. He was my source of inspiration. He has been fighting for a cause for over 50 years now, out of which 31 years he is in jail. I thought why should I let this affect me. I thought of making him proud instead.Sama Shah, Student
