The Roadways office in Uttarakkand’s Roorkee has been in shambles for the last few years. The ceiling’s crust keeps chipping off and falling, worsening during the rains.
Employees are forced to wear helmets at work, given the office’s condition.
Employees who work at the office say that higher authorities have been apprised of the repairs needed but the department blames it on the budget.
One of the employees said, “The ceiling of this room is in such a bad state that pieces of plaster are falling down. Yesterday, our incharge was sitting here and a big piece of plaster fell right in front of him. Had it fallen on him, he would have gotten injured badly.”
He also that the building was built in 1964-65.
The employees have written to the department recently asking them to get the room repaired.
