Ever heard of a robot speaking in Hindi? Meet Rashmi, the first humanoid robot that can speak the language.
It was developed by 38-year-old Ranjit Srivastava, a Ranchi-based software engineer, as an Indian version of Sophia, the first humanoid robot.
Apart from Hindi, Rashmi can also speak in English, Marathi and Bhojpuri.
Srivastava claims this robot is India’s first lip-syncing robot. It uses linguistic interpretation (LI), artificial intelligence (AI), visual data and facial recognition systems to act like a human being.
According to Hindustan Times, Rashmi was developed over a period of nearly two years at a cost of about Rs 50,000.
Regarding the functioning of the robot, Srivastava was quoted by the daily as saying:
Rashmi functions under a specially designed software and linguistic interpretation system developed by me. The LI programme analyses the feeling of the conversation , while the AI programme analyses the conversation to extract the response from the device.Ranjit Srivastava
