Days after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a CBI court in connection with a 15-year-old rape case, an inmate from Rohtak's Sunaria jail, where the godman is currently lodged, has shared rather vivid details about his life in prison.
Speaking to ANI, inmate Swadesh Kirdar, who is out on bail, asserted that "no VIP treatment was being given to Ram Rahim in jail", and that he was being "treated like any other prisoner". He went on to say:
The day Ram Rahim was lodged in jail, he kept on murmuring “Rabba, mera kya kasoor hai? (God, what is my fault?),” And during the five days I was in jail, he didn’t eat anything.... he complained of back pain and asked for his daughter Honeypreet.Swadesh Kirdar, inmate in Sunaria jail
He even went on to describe what Ram Rahim's reaction was when the verdict in the rape case was pronounced.
The moment the verdict was pronounced, Ram Rahim Singh knelt down and said, “Hang me, I don’t want to live anymore.”
Furthermore, Kirnad described how the violence in Panchkula and Sirsa, which broke out after the court verdict, made many prisoners angry. “Had he not been kept in a separate cell, they (the prisoners) would have attacked him.”
