Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday, 10 September led a protest march in Delhi against rising fuel prices in the country.

He spoke out against the Prime Minister while addressing the protest rally in New Delhi. “Narendra Modi ji is silent, he has not spoken a word on rising prices of fuel, or condition of farmers, neither on atrocities against women,” said Gandhi.

‘Rupee Weakest, Petrol Price Highest in the Last 70 Years’

Rahul upped the ante against PM Modi, accusing him of silence over rising fuel prices and the weakening rupee.

“The rupee has never been so weak, it has never stooped so low in the last 70 years. Petrol price is now above Rs 80 per litre. Diesel price is a little below Rs 80 per litre. Earlier Modi ji used to keep saying how fuel prices are high across the nation. Now he is silent on petrol price hike. Price of a gas cylinder is up to Rs 800 from Rs 400. PM Modi is silent on it.”

‘Divide and Rule in 4 Years Under PM Modi’

Rahul accused PM Modi of creating an environment of divide-and-rule across the nation on the basis of caste, religion and region.

“Narendra Modi ji used to say he will do in 4 years what hasn’t been done in 70 years. And truly what he has done in 4 years hasn’t been done in 70 years. Today an Indian fights another Indian. Wherever he (PM Modi) goes he divides people on the basis of religion, caste and state. PM Modi is silent on farmer suicides, BJP MLA’s involvement in rapes. Questions are raised on the Rafale deal in the Parliament which PM Modi is unable to answer.”

‘Only 15-20 Industrialists Benefiting from the Modi Govt’

While slamming PM Modi for being blind towards the plight of farmers in the country, Rahul Gandhi claimed that only 15-20 industrialists benefit from the Modi government in terms of loan waivers.

“Workers are feeling helpless in this country. Only 15-20 crony capitalists benefitting. Farmers’ loans can’t be waived. But one industrialist can be given free gifts worth Rs 45,000 crore. This 45,000 crore does not belong to PM Modi or his friend. It belongs to the youth and farmers of the country.”

‘Demonetisation Ruined Small Businesses’

The Congress President also attacked PM Modi for ruining small and medium-sized businesses through demonetisation and the introduction of GST.

“PM Modi introduced demonetisation. All small and medium-sized businesses were ruined. PM Modi has so far not been able to explain the reason behind demonetisation. He said it was to abolish black money. Instead, it helped all the corrupt [persons] to convert their black money into white. Then came the Gabbar Singh Tax. The idea was to introduce one tax for the whole nation. Instead, he introduced 5 taxes.”
