A shocking visuals of a Nigerian national tied to a pole in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar being beaten up by locals for an alleged theft has turned up. The man has been handed over to the police in a wounded state, and is now reportedly jailed.

Presidoe Okuguni, coordinator, Association of African Students in India, strongly condemned the act of violence.

Nobody should be treated that way. Someone is not guilty until proven guilty. If he is a suspect then he should be handed over to the police for them to deal with it. And not people collectively beating the person up.
