1. Ind vs NZ World Cup 1st Semi Final Live

After over a month of cricketing action in England, we’re down to the last three matches at this 2019 ICC World Cup. Just the four teams left fighting for the big title and two of them take the field in the first semi-final today at the Old Trafford.

Virat Kohli’s Indian team are playing Kane Williamson’s New Zealand with the toss at 2:30pm IST. Back home in India though, fans are already in ‘match-mode’, praying for the team to reach Sunday’s final.

2. Karnataka Cong Seeks to Disqualify Rebel MLAs, Roshan Baig Resigns

As the political drama in Karnataka continues, the Congress Legislative Party has decided to file a petition with the Speaker to disqualify the rebel MLAs who have “colluded with the BJP”.

With suspended Congress MLA Roshan Baig also quitting on Tuesday, 9 July, the total number of resignations in the party have gone up to 14, pushing the Congress-JD(S) alliance government to an edge. Two Independent MLAs who withdrew from the coalition have lent support to the BJP, giving the saffron party an upper hand.

3. Govt Planning Facial Recognition System; Raises Privacy Concerns

On Friday, when the nation’s attention was fixed upon the Union budget, a small advertisement tucked away within newspapers called for applicants to bid for the implementation of a nationwide Automated Facial Recognition System.

Unlike the 122-page long Finance Bill, 2019, the 172-page Request for Proposal (RPF) released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), hidden within the folders of its website, generated nearly no attention even though its implication are wide and severe.
